DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR JAPAN VISA APPLICATION

Passport
The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of entry. -
Visa application form
Include the submission date.
The signature on the form must match the signature in the passport. -
Passport-sized photo
Size: 4.5cm × 4.5cm, taken within the last 6 months. -
Invitation letter from the sponsor in Japan (If applicable)
Includes:
- Employment certificate of the sponsor (if the sponsor is from a private company, a business license or tax declaration is required).
- Income certificate of the sponsor:
- Tax submission showing income.
- Tax declaration form with the stamp from the Japanese tax office.
- Income certificate issued by the Japanese administrative agency.
- If the above documents are not available, a bank statement showing transaction history for the last 6 months is required.
- Residence certificate of the sponsor.
- If the sponsor is a foreigner residing in Japan, a residence registration certificate (issued within the last 3 months) is required.
Note: If the applicant will bear the full cost of the trip, no invitation letter is needed but the following documents must be provided:
- Bank account statement under the applicant’s name.
- Income certificate issued by the relevant authority.
- Invitation letter (Required, even if no sponsor letter is needed)
Written in English or Japanese.
No photocopies or fax versions accepted.
Must include:
- Full name, address, and phone number of the inviter.
- Official stamp/seal of the inviter.
- A detailed list of places to visit and activities in Japan (not generic terms like “family visit”; the itinerary should be specific).
- Accommodation plan (No photocopies or fax versions accepted)
Include confirmation of round-trip flight booking.
Must specify:
- Date, time of entry and exit, flight number, airport.
- Accommodation address in Japan (address, phone number).
- Day-by-day itinerary for the trip (if activities are repeated, it’s fine to mention from day X to day Y).
- Documents to prove the purpose of entry
If visiting family, provide documents that confirm the relationship (birth certificate, household registration, family records, etc.).
